Fiona Lucas

Fiona qualified from the Wolverhampton School of Physiotherapy in 1982 and worked both in the NHS and private practice in Birmingham before moving to Worcestershire in 1990. She worked in the private sector in Worcester until 1999, before returning to the NHS as a Senior Physiotherapist at Upton Surgery, where she worked until 2014. Widely experienced in a variety of physiotherapy modalities, Fiona’s specialist interests lie in musculo-skeletal problems - sprains, strains, sports injuries, arthritis and pain management, plus many, many more……. She gained an MSc in Pain Management from the University of Leicester in 2011, which has helped her gain an insight into the bio-psycho-social approach to pain management. She has completed several courses in acupuncture and is a member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society. Fiona prides herself on remaining up to date with current research and is committed to her continuing professional development.

Fiona comments ‘For me, Physiotherapy is not just a job; opportunities arise to meet a huge variety of people from all walks of life. Using my experience, research and knowledge I can offer a professional and holistic approach to support patients in their rehabilitation.’ Fiona is also a keen sportsperson herself, enjoying dinghy racing and yacht sailing, squash and golf. To that end she understands the frustration of injuries and the importance of developing and maintaining safe, effective and relevant exercise programmes.
