Cheltenham Chiropractic Clinic

Rita Hemmings graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in 1978 having completed a comprehensive four year full time course. It was then that Rita strayed from her home county (having been born and bred in Warwickshire) and settled in Cheltenham and set up what was to become Cheltenham Chiropractic Clinic.

Chiropractic started in the USA in 1895 and arrived in the UK soon after the turn of the century. Although the next 75 years or so it grew slowly as a profession in this country and it gradually became more and more accepted. But saying that, in 1978 there were only 120 members of The British Chiropractic Association in the whole of the UK.
But 35 years on, Rita and the practice are still here!

In the 35 years that Rita has been practising in Cheltenham she has seen a very large number of people, of different ages (babies to 100yrs+) and with very different complaints, so has built up a vast amount of experience.
Low back pain is what most people identify as a chiropractors forte, it is the most common complaint seen, but it doesn’t stop there. Neck pains often with accompanying arm pain or headaches, shoulder problems, hips, knees and some sports injuries can all be helped with chiropractic care.
Since 2002 Catherine Owers has been working , not only with Rita in the clinic but also in her own clinic in Malvern (see her entry on this site.)
Cheltenham Chiropractic Clinic has always been in the same location in Cheltenham and easily accessible: it is on the A40 (396 Gloucester Road)on the west side of town (just along from TGI Fridays) on the corner of Granley Road. We have our own car park at the rear of the clinic. There are bus stops right outside (No 94) Cheltenham-Gloucester and the clinic is just a 10 minute walk from the Railway station, further up Gloucester Road.
Both Rita and Catherine are listed on the register of the General Chiropractic Council and the British Chiropractic Association. Rita is also a Member of The Royal College of Chiropractors. Both chiropractors have enhanced CRB clearance. Both chiropractors are also registered with most Private Health Insurance Companies who might give you cover against the cost of your treatment.
If you are not sure as to if chiropractic care is for you, we offer a FREE screening service. This gives the chiropractor an opportunity to have a quick chat with you about your concerns and to have a very basic check of your problem. They are then in a position to either recommend a course of chiropractic or be able to suggest another course of action which may be more appropriate. If this appeals to you please contact us to make a ‘free screening’ appointment
